Sustainable portfolio alignment through the most innovative motor technology

SEW-EURODRIVE is expanding its extensive portfolio with new motors for pure converter operation. The synchronous motors of the DR2C.. series meet the highest normatively defined efficiency class IE5 for variable-speed electric motors. They are therefore another sustainable and energy-saving engine variant.
The switch from line-commutated motors or line motors operated on the converter to motors that were developed for pure converter operation harbors significant potential for more efficient use of energy. The normative specifications already make this clear: the maximum possible efficiency class IE4 for mains motors (with/without operation on the converter) from Part 30-1 of IEC 60034 is then an IE5 level from Part 30-2 of the IEC/TS 60034 standard for the converter motor. The greatest gain in terms of savings occurs when the speed control options of these IE5 motors are used consistently in the systems and machines.
In combination with efficient gears and intelligent frequency converters, energy-saving drive solutions are created that focus on the losses in a wide variety of applications. When the components work together, far greater energy savings can be achieved in a forward-looking system operation than just by increasing the efficiency of a single component.
From a system perspective, the IE5 motors from SEW-EURODRIVE have other positive properties. Due to the structural design as a synchronous motor, the speeds are not load-dependent. Interlinked system parts can thus be designed without power in the transition. Another significant advantage of synchronous motor technology is the almost lossless rotor and thus the low thermal load. A colder engine has a longer service life.
