ArtiMinds Robotics GmbH, a leading provider of software solutions and engineering services for robot-assisted automation, will be represented at the all about automation trade fair in Friedrichshafen in Hall B2, Stand 105 on March 5th & 6th, 2024.
The highlight of ArtiMinds’ trade fair presentation is a groundbreaking cable handling application for cable harness assembly. The robot-supported solution demonstrates the robust detection, picking and joining of freely hanging, slack parts such as lines and cables. The approach developed by ArtiMinds is based on a unique combination of laser line scanners, 2D camera technology and force-torque measurement as well as newly developed interfaces and intelligent function blocks in the ArtiMinds Robot Programming Suite (RPS).
The software processes the scan result in real time and synchronizes it with the robot movement to determine the exact pickup point. It then carries out a force-controlled joining operation. which enables precise and safe insertion of the cables into the connector housing.
The demonstration illustrates the versatile application possibilities of the manufacturer-independent programming software ArtiMinds RPS, which enables the easy creation of highly adaptive and sophisticated robot programs. Since the software generates native robot code, the programs can be executed directly on the standard controller of the industrial robot used, without additional hardware.
“Our participation in all about automation underlines our commitment and expertise in the area of advanced robotics and in particular in flexible cable assembly,” says Dr.-Ing. Sven Schmidt-Rohr, Managing Director of ArtiMinds Robotics. “The application presented is an impressive example of the versatility of our software products and how we can use them to automate and optimize complex production processes using robots.”
